Historic Cleveland School Transforms Into Apartments
Precision Environmental had the opportunity to contribute to a historic renovation of a 1900's school building and landmark for the eastern side of Cleveland. The Doan Classroom Apartments project will involve renovating a 48-unit apartment building, which was once Doan School, a classroom building constructed in 1904, expanded in 1906, and renovated again in 1950.
Located on East 105th Street in Cleveland, the national landmark used to provide affordable housing for senior citizens in the 1980s before it closed due to foreclosure. A local non-profit affordable housing developer, Famicos Foundation, is using funding to rehabilitate the vacant property. The project's general contractor, Marous Brothers Construction, hired Precision Environmental as the subcontractor to provide asbestos abatement and selective demolition services.
Precision's skilled abatement and demolition workers removed contaminated materials from the building, and demolished interior areas to start the transformation. Precision was pleased to work with Famicos Foundation again, and help create more affordable homes for Cleveland's senior residents.
