Casino Construction Begins in Downtown Cleveland
As construction begins on the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, Precision Environmental and ProCut teams are helping transform the historic Higbee Building from a vacant department store, to a modern gambling attraction for the city of Cleveland.
Dan Gilbert's Rock Ventures, an Ohio developing company, and Caesars Entertainment have teamed up to create the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland located in Tower City within Public Square of downtown Cleveland. Precision is working as a subcontractor to the general contractor, Whiting-Turner, to perform asbestos abatement and selective demolition services in the Higbee Building.
Scheduled to open in March 2013, the casino construction has a long way to go; however, the abatement and demolition services are essential for development and construction to progress. Precision's skilled environmental professionals are working in confined spaces to remove asbestos located in the Higbee Building's top floors, while ProCut concrete specialists carefully saw cut the concrete and heat the structures to prepare for demolition.
ProCut has recently performed torch-cut services on the historic elevators within the department store in the Higbee Building to break down the structure and facilitate demolition. The demolition team has also cut openings in the first floor for selective demolition. Precision teams continue to work around many construction trades from other companies' operations as they each contribute their part to the building renovation.
As interior build-out continues in the Higbee Building, both teams will contribute a total of $4 million of services, as part of the $350 million Phase 1 of the project. Precision Environmental and ProCut are looking forward to making the initial impact in the renovation, and in bringing the exciting development to downtown Cleveland.
